Acknowledging the great benefit to enforcement officers, Oceania and now European authorities show great interest in using the ASEAN-WEN Species ID Sheets as a model to create ID Sheets with endangered and protected species most recurrent in the illegal wildlife trade in their regions. New Zealand’s wildlife officials are compiling an Oceanic version of the ID Sheets stressing the fact that the illegal trade within the ASEAN region is increasing. “ The New Zealand Wildlife Enforcement Group (NZ WEG) (wants) to produce a set of species identification sheets covering protected species that are traded in the Oceania region. […] and (it) follows the model set by the ASEAN-WEN Identification Sheets for Wildlife Species Traded in Southeast Asia".. “We would like to inform you that several wildlife enforcement officials in Europe have given very positive feedback on the ASEAN-WEN Identification sheets […]. Congratulations on this superb piece of work! […] In the near future, we would like to send short alerts to European officials” states TRAFFIC Europe (administrator of EU-TWIX, a wildlife trade information exchange network). The Species ID guide was compiled by by TRAFFIC Southeast Asia as part of the ASEAN-WEN Support Program in close coordination with ASEAN-WEN National Focal Points in all 10 ASEAN counties.
